The Heart Behind Habibi Bear Dogs, Love, Genetics, And Hannah’s Heart Foundation

The Heart Behind Habibi Bears
A Dog Created For The Modern Family
At Habibi Bears, everything starts with one thing: my love for my dogs and the families they serve.
That love is what began this journey, long before “doodles” were a catch phrase or a trend on social media. From the beginning, this was never about creating a cute marketing label. It was about connection, comfort, and my lifelong passion for genetics and what becomes possible when you breed with both heart and science in mind.
I have seen, over and over, how the right dog can soften a room, calm a worried child, and quietly become the emotional anchor of a home. Habibi Bears were created for that purpose.
How This Journey Really Began
Before I was a breeder, I was an educator. I spent years working with children from all kinds of backgrounds and with all kinds of needs. In my classrooms, I saw how a truly intuitive dog could
- Reach a child who had shut down
- Offer comfort during emotional overload
- Help kids feel safe, seen, and regulated just by being there
At the same time, I was deeply involved in the purebred dog world. I have a lot of respect for purebred dogs and for responsible breeders who care deeply about preserving and protecting their breeds. Many are doing beautiful, devoted work.
In my own experience, I simply began to notice what can happen over time when a gene pool becomes very narrow. There can be more health challenges, more emotional fragility, and less long-term resilience. I did not want to criticize or tear anything down. I wanted to respond thoughtfully inside my own program, to help those I cared about.
So I asked myself how I could
- Honor the dogs I loved
- Support the families I cared about
- Restore more genetic diversity through my own breeding decisions
My passion for genetics became my compass. I wanted to gently turn the tide on shrinking diversity and create a unique line of dogs with emotional stability, physical soundness, and long-term wellness in mind, all while preserving true hybrid vigor. At that time, most mixed breeds were not thoughtfully or intentionally bred, they were often dismissed as “mutts.” So when I received that call inviting me into something new, I knew I was going to ruffle some feathers.
But my heart was clearly leading me down a new path. I rolled up my sleeves, learned to grow a thicker skin, and chose to keep following my inner guidance, trusting that this vision was worth protecting.
That is the foundation of the Habibi Bear.
A Dog Created For Modern Families
Habibi Bears were not created as a quick designer cross. This is a purpose bred companion, developed over many years of experience, observation, and careful genetic planning.
Every Habibi Bear is
- Raised with our relationship based Habibi Method of socialization, where connection and trust come first
- Allergy friendly and low to non shedding, to support more families with sensitivities
- Intuitively tuned in to their people, especially children and emotionally sensitive humans
- Gentle, nurturing, and emotionally resilient, created for real life in a modern family
My dream has always been very specific. I wanted to create a dog who feels like they were made for the living room, the school pickup line, the sensory overload moment on the floor, the bedtime snuggles, and all the big feelings that come with being human.
Before “Doodle” Was A Trend
When I began this journey, “doodle” was not a trending word. I can still remember the first time I heard the term and thought it meant a drawing. There were no viral hybrid names and there was no social media hype to follow.
There was simply
- A classroom full of students who needed calm, intuitive, non overwhelming dogs
- A growing awareness that I wanted to support genetic diversity in my own lines
- A heart level calling to create emotionally intelligent companions designed for deep connection
I studied lineages, temperaments, health, and behavior patterns. I thought about how different traits worked together and what type of dog would truly serve the needs of today’s families.
The question that guided me was simple and powerful
What if I could intentionally create a line of dogs that are emotionally intuitive, genetically diverse, and truly built to support the hearts of the people who love them.
That question is what ultimately shaped the Habibi Bear, long before the doodle trend became what it is today. Looking back, I am still amazed at how it all came together. In their own beautiful way, the dogs carried healing and light wherever they went, touching hearts in ways I could not have scripted. Before long, people from across the country were reaching out, asking if I would be having another litter and hoping for a chance to bring one of these special souls into their family.
A Nursery Full Of Purpose
When people hear the phrase “home-raised,” it can mean very different things. When I first started, all of my dogs were in the house because I was determined to keep that cozy, home-raised feeling. What I learned very quickly is that without thoughtful management, life becomes chaotic, accidental breedings can happen, and it is harder to keep everyone safe and calm.
Seasoned, purpose-driven breeders know that management is an act of love. We design spaces that keep our dogs secure, our breedings intentional, and our moms and puppies relaxed and protected. For us, that meant creating dedicated areas that feel like an extension of our home. Our dogs quite literally have their own home, their own rooms, and their own carefully planned routines.
We have a quiet, temperature-controlled nursery where moms can rest, focus on their babies, and feel safe in their own den space. Once puppies are weaned, they move into our toddler area, where enrichment and foundational concept training begin. We also have a beautiful Enrichment and Training Center with its own dog yard, a private dog park for our adults to play, and puppy yards with K9 dog grass that help protect them from outdoor disease risks.
I have dedicated my life to studying what dogs truly need and to designing spaces that are both homey and highly managed, so our dogs are safe, contained, and emotionally supported. When dogs are in season, they have separate spaces. This prevents stress, fights, injuries, and unplanned breedings. Clear boundaries, structure, and thoughtful management allow our dogs to relax and thrive.
All of this is part of why our breeding program is so intentional. We are raising a breed designed for connection, therapy, emotional regulation, family companionship, and even service work. Our dogs are second to none because they grow up with a healthy mindset in healthy, purpose-built spaces. And yes, they also spend time in different areas of our house, but it is all planned and scheduled so that every experience serves their development.

Beyond Puppies
Hannah’s Heart Foundation
Habibi Bears are one part of a much bigger mission, carried through Hannah’s Heart Foundation, our nonprofit organization.
Through Hannah’s Heart, we
- Support therapeutic partnerships between intuitive dogs and humans of all ages
- Teach canine emotional literacy, so people better understand how dogs feel, communicate, and connect
- Share our curriculum, The Human’s Guide to the Dog Galaxy™, to help families build deeper, more respectful relationships with their dogs
To me, dogs are not here just to perform tricks or pose for cute photos.
They are here to connect, support, and heal.
Hannah’s Heart Foundation exists to honor that truth, and Habibi Bears are a living expression of that mission.
